When you have picked a word, think of what tone you are going to use. This is important for training your cat. Your cat cannot really understand all the words that you will use, but it will understand the tone that you use. Try to make your voice sound as if you are really pleased. Crouch on the floor holding something that your cat will like. The reason for this is that you make yourself smaller and this is less intimidating.

Call your cat to you using an excitable tone. When your cat comes to you, make sure that you praise it. Then you move to another place and do the same thing again. From when your cat is a kitten, make sure that you spend plenty of time with it and offer it plenty of attention, so that it becomes normal for you to act in this way with your cat. Your cat will soon learn that it gets treats and praise by doing certain things, and gets nothing by doing other things.
